May Occasions Card Class – Part 1

The theme for this month’s Occasions card class (#2 of 4, running through July) was weddings, anniversaries, graduations, & babies. Just a small group this time, but lots of fun, as always!

We made 8 cards total – 2 each of 4 designs – oops, we made 9… everyone there got to make a bonus card because I had left over supplies from myFather’s Day Grill card swap (see this post).

This is the graduation card we made.  I tweaked the design from a number of different cards that I saw on Stampin’ Connection (a Stampin’ Up demonstrator community website).  The background is simply Real Red cardstock, textured with the Lattice embossing folder from the Summer mini.  I almost didn’t buy this folder, but I’m so glad I did – it’s awesome!  The bottom edge is scalloped using the Scallop Border punch, as is the back edge.  My friend, Karen, wraps a layer over the top of the card onto the back like this quite often and I really like the effect.  Stamped images are from Go, Graduate – a Summer mini set.

For the baby card, we made a pocket card.  This one is my own design.  I used a piece of the Bride specialty paper on the bottom of the pocket, braying it with Gable Green – the stripes in the design resist the ink, giving it the two-tone look.  The Gable Green border under the ribbon was made using the Eyelet Border punch.  The image & saying on the front are from Fun & Fast Notes.  Colors used are Barely Banana, Gable Green, & Whisper White.  If you’d like to make a similar pocket card, cut the base cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 8 3/4″, then score at 5 1/2″ & 8 1/4″.  You won’t need any adhesive to hold the pocket together if you wrap ribbon around it like this one.

Stop back by tomorrow to see the wedding & anniversary cards!

These are beautiful and each one is different in it’s own way, nice!

These are both very nice! I like the idea of wrapping the cardstock over the top of the card! I will definitely have to try out this pocket card. It is so cute!
